• Account information: email address and hashed password when you register.
• Usage data: number of drafts generated and whether you have an active access pass.
• Message input: the profile bio and conversation text you paste to generate a draft. This is sent to Anthropic's AI API to produce your suggested message. We do not permanently store the content of your message inputs.
• Payment data: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
• Session cookies: used to keep you logged in.

2. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and operate the StartTheDate service.
• To track your free draft usage and access pass status.
• To process payments securely via Stripe.
• To generate personalized message drafts via the Anthropic Claude AI API.

3. Third-Party Services

• Anthropic: Your message inputs are sent to Anthropic's API to generate drafts. Anthropic's privacy policy applies: anthropic.com/privacy
• Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy applies: stripe.com/privacy
• Railway: Hosting provider. Your data is stored on Railway's infrastructure.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your account data (email, hashed password, usage counts) is stored in a secure database. Passwords are never stored in plain text. We use HTTPS for all connections.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Message inputs are not permanently stored — they are processed in real-time to generate your draft and then discarded.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data. To request deletion of your account and data, contact us at the email below. If you are in the EU, you also have rights under GDPR including data portability and the right to object to processing.

7. Children's Privacy

StartTheDate is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy on this page with a new "last updated" date.
